Posters: Movie Poster Collecting
There is a great deal of history behind movie posters and movie poster collecting. Jules Cheret, who created 2 movie posters in the 1890′s, was the artist given credit for creating the first movie posters. By the end of the first decade of the 1900′s, movies had become a great source of public entertainment. In this time period, the movie poster would become a standard size known as the one sheet measuring 27″ x 41″.
In the early days, the names of actors did not appear on the posters, which the movie studios liked, because it meant paying actors less money. It was in this early period in movie history, however, that movie studios realized movie stars were as much of an attraction to the moviegoer as the movie itself. Thus, the movie star was born, and movie posters began showcasing actors’ names along with the title of the movie.
By the 1920′s, the golden age of silent movies, movie posters became more artistic and spectacular, with accomplished artists being hired by movie studios to paint portraits of the stars for posters. By the late 1920′s, movie poster images became sharper due to a new printing process developed by the Morgan Litho Company.
Is Illustration Can Been Seen as “Fine Art” and Separate From Graphic Design?
Question by Persona Delusion: Is illustration can been seen as “fine art” and separate from graphic design?
Many people say that illustration isn’t fine art but a commercial art. However, I have seen famous illustrations in art galleries and consider to be a fine art.
Many famous painters did illustrations.
So, I’m asking that can illustrations can been seen as “fine art” and separate from graphic design.
Thank you.

I really don’t think it matters either way. We get too caught up in labels. Is digital painting still considered painting? What kind of camera do you have to use to have your photography be considered “art”?
If you want to get technical, illustration is commercial art went it is used commercially or corporately. Nothing more.
What do you think? Answer below!

Framed Art: Purchasing Framed Art for Your Home or Office – a Novel Way to Decorate
Framed art is an ideal compliment to any room of your home or office. Decorating an environment using framed artwork is quick, easy and is usually relatively inexpensive. People generally choose framed art because it matches their decor, or because they like the actual piece and conducting this selection can be great fun because the choice is simply huge.
Today, there are currently thousands of artists who have allowed their work to be transferred into framed prints. But this is not a new thing. The world has appreciated the work of artists for many years. While many of the modern day artists go unannounced to the world, many others already have stamped their mark on the world. Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and many other classic artists will live on through their artwork forever and buying print versions of their work is both popular and common.
Appreciating the work of artists – irrespective of whether they are known or unknown is an important part of the cultural aspect of life. In order to be a well-rounded person, it helps to build a healthy appreciation for art. A great way to show your admiration is through the purchase and display of framed art. Framed art prints are less expensive than actual paintings so this lets you enjoy the many options for decorating your environment.
Could You Help Me Choose a Cute or Clever Business Name?
Question by V. S.C.: Could you help me choose a cute or clever business name?
Hi! I have just become an Independent Distributor for a home party (direct sales) company and need to come up w/ a business name. The company makes decorative vinyl lettering and embellishments that can go on your walls and many other hard surfaces (cars, appliances, etc.)
Several ideas that might immediately come to mind have already been taken, including, “wall art”, “wall words”, “decorative expressions”, “wall bling”, and “wall that jazz”. I thought of “letterific”, “wordtastic”, “white walls no more”, “word up” or “word girl” but I don’t know if I really like them. Plus, I’m trying to make sure that whatever I pick, I can get a gmail address and a blogspot address for.
Any cute or clever ideas? Thanks!
